Reforestation maintenance
In this measure, we talk about the vicissitudes to favor the development and growth of all our seedlings, plants, trees. It is indicated that those acts of maintenance should be carried out at least around the third year after the reforestation has been established, to ensure its permanence.
This reforestation maintenance is done using the following types of actions, made by the rationale being:
- Weeding control
This control is recommended in conifer plantations and consists of eliminating all undesirable vegetation that limits its development. The activity is done recursively, with our hands or there is also the option of doing it mechanically using a variety of types of equipment and tools. The advantage of this type of weed is that it is so susceptible, immersed in the use of sod to store moisture.
- Fertilization
It is recommended to use fertilizers based on natural manure or organic fertilizers such as manure -which provides a variety of nutrients to the soil-, chicken manure, compost, or residues from previous harvests. Natural fertilizers are more environmentally friendly, although there is not enough supply for large-scale projects.
- Dead plant replacement
To maintain the defined density of the plantation it is necessary to replace the dead plants in each rainy season since it is vital to take advantage of the enriching mother earth.
- Pruning
Consist in the elimination of the lower branches. This act is done to increase - to this extent-, the quality of the wood and simplify other tasks since it is necessary to have the corrective supervision, using tasks, to obtain control and thus to be able to exercise the maintenance - by hand-, with the supervision. They also reduce the risk of fires and allow the use of firewood. - Clarification
There are some specific compositions of the forest, in which the thinning serves to regulate it. The removal of a certain specific amount of trees, there is a kind of development of the vital plantation to improve the conditions of growth with higher quality in the trees for the necessary use of the rational being, such as obtaining raw materials, such as sawdust, boards, plywood, and poles.
