Which are the most reliable NGOs?

Which are the most reliable NGOs?

The most important quality of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is the transparency in the management of its funds and the certification of compliance with the proposed purposes, unfortunately, a minority of them incur bad practices that affect the entire sector. Therefore, it is important at the time of wanting to donate or use the services of an NGO, check if the institution has been subjected to strict evaluations and audits by public and private regulatory agencies that are responsible for monitoring and sanctioning those organizations that do not meet the requirements internationally.

However, it is difficult to say whether one NGO is more reliable than another since it depends on many factors, so it is important in the first instance to visit their website to review the information to establish what they do, who they help, how they manage their resources. Having this clear, it is then necessary to establish whether it meets all legal requirements through local entities that monitor them, and finally gather information to determine its transparency not only in fulfilling its social purpose but also the way they manage its resources being the Internet a great ally for this because when an NGO has problems of some kind it is normal that the affected people denounce them on social networks.

The most important thing when choosing an NGO is to determine if the cause for which it works has a great impact on the society of the less favored, likewise, to ensure that its activity is developed independently and there are no political or religious influencers that may distort its social purpose.

The year of experience is another factor to take into account since, based on the time it has been operating, it is possible to guarantee that the resources reach those who need them most. On the other hand, the NGO must make public the history of its financial management, interested parties can verify the good management of its finances.

The annual meetings of NGOs generate confidence in their donors and beneficiaries since they usually deal with relevant issues regarding the achievements obtained during that period, which allows them to get to know their partners and directors in greater depth, which gives them peace of mind and therefore makes them a more trustworthy institution.

Finally, we can mention as an example some NGOs that due to their experience and time helping to intermediate the most vulnerable population have enjoyed great reputation and affection from their beneficiaries, such as "Doctors without Borders" is an NGO that has managed to raise a lot of money to face the Covid-19 pandemic helping the most vulnerable inhabitants of Africa mitigating the impact generated by the phenomenon.

Greenpeace is an NGO that enjoys a great reputation since it fights for the damage done to the environment by reaching agreements with different countries they commit to minimizing the environmental impact generated by their people and productive processes.

As is well known, the International Red Cross is another NGO that is deployed throughout the world mediating not only in conflicts there are vulnerable populations but in societies that have few resources for health being this NGO is a major donor in medicines, vaccines, blood, and everything concerning improving the health of people with more needs.
